Dissolving Dermal Fillers
Removing an unsuccessful dermal filler is sometimes the best option
What are dissolving dermal fillers?
This is a process that removes unsuccessful dermal fillers. It could be needed if a filler has not enhanced your looks at you hoped, the filler has migrated, or it has left you with an unflattering unevenness.
Why choose dissolving dermal fillers?
It can be a difficult choice to reverse a treatment. However, if you are dissatisfied with your filler that has been done elsewhere, then dissolving the treatment is a successful and positive option. It is never advisable to re-inject over a poorly placed filler, as this will not usually correct the problem or appearance. At Immaculate Touch we will always give you our experienced and expert opinion as to the best way to proceed.
FAQs
To dissolve unwanted fillers an enzyme called Hyaluronidase is injected to break down the problem area.
A fine needle is used and the process is not painful. Anaesthetic cream is not usually needed.
This depends on the area and complexity of each individual treatment. In our experience lip fillers usually dissolve in one session, but other areas can take more. We will advise you on consultation.
After your filler dissolving injection, avoid vigorous exercise; do not touch or rub the area; and stay out of areas of extreme heat or cold (including saunas). The treated area should be kept sterile and makeup should not be worn for 24 hours. In addition, refrain from sun exposure (including sunbeds) for 2 days. You may have some bruising, which is normal.
The good news is that this is possible, with the requirement of a minimum 2-week gap between treatments. We do however recommend waiting for more than two weeks to make sure the tissues replenish nicely before re injecting.
