Dermaplane Facial

Deep exfoliation of your skin for superbly glowing results

What is a Dermaplane Facial?

Put simply, it is the removal of a very thin layer of dead skin and fine facial hair. This allows for deep penetration of skin products and also removes the fine vellus hair (peach ‘fuzz’) that can trap oil and dirt. Although it sounds a dramatic process, the technique is carried out safely and effectively with a sharp scalpel by a trained clinician.

Why choose a Dermaplane Facial?

Removing both the vellus hair and the very top layer of your skin can increase inner confidence and reduce sensitivity about ‘facial hair’ – which makes it a lovely pampering treatment for a special occasion. It also reveals the brighter, smoother layer of skin beneath, giving you a more vibrant and glowing complexion and a smooth canvas for applying your makeup. Increased absorption of beauty products and moisturisers makes your skin feel plumper and more hydrated – and can even conceal fine lines and minor wrinkles.

FAQs

Your skin is thoroughly cleansed and dried. A small area of skin is gently pulled taut to smooth and tighten it. A scalpel is then used to carefully scrape off the top layer of skin cells with short and swift strokes. Your clinician will explain exactly what is happening, and although it sounds dramatic there is no discomfort to worry about.

The thin and tiny baby hairs that women have on their face is called ‘vellus’ hair. This increases as we get older, although it can also affect women at a younger age, too.

There are no harsh chemicals used in dermaplaning, so it is considered safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. However, it is not a suitable procedure if you suffer from acne or, in some cases, for other allergies or skin conditions. Following your treatment we ask that you avoid wearing makeup for the next 24 hours where possible.

Our clinicians are fully trained and licensed. Rest assured, you are in expert and safe hands.

There is very minimal discomfort. It can be likened to the sensation of shaving your legs.

This is a common concern, but the answer is no. Vellus hair is not the same as the hair on your head, and will grow back just as fine as it was prior to your treatment.
