Plasma Eye Lift – (Your Questions Answered)

If you are desperate to do something about your crow’s feet, droopy lids or have your eye bags tightened, then there really is no reason not to consider a Plasma eye lift. The procedure is revolutionary; quick, relatively painless, affordable and extremely effective.

Why Go For Plasma Eye Lift?

  1. Just as effective as surgery both in immediate effect and in longevity.
  2. Considerably less invasive than surgery; no knives, no stitches, no heavy anaesthetics.
  3. The recovery time is fairly short and does not impact your everyday life greatly.
  4. Plasma treatment is extremely popular; therefore, the market is competitive. We have some fantastic deals!
  5. The procedure itself is extremely quick and virtually painless.

Our Changing Bodies

As we get older our bodies change. Some of these changes may be welcome, some perhaps not so much. One of the least popular bodily changes is the loosening of the skin. As our bodies get older, the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the skin around our eyes. This aesthetic downgrade manifests itself in the form of crow’s feet, hooded eyes and droopy skin under the eye. Often tired looking or hooded eyes are a hereditary feature which does not impact a client’s appearance early on in their lives, but does become more pronounced over time.

Until recently the only way to deal with this issue around the eyes was through Blepharoplasty; a surgical procedure that is extremely effective in the improvement of puffy eyes, heavy or hooded lids, crow’s feet and bags. Surgical Blepharoplasty is still very popular, as it is an extremely effective method with effects that are long-lasting, if not permanent.

Surgery Is A Big Deal

However, surgery is a big deal. What are your options if you want to deal with this issue without going under the knife? Well, we now have the technology that ensures that Plasma skin tightening (sometimes referred to as ‘soft surgery’, ‘non-surgical blepharoplasty’ or ‘fibroblast’) is extremely effective. No cuts, no knives, no stitches, no heavy anaesthetic and a fairly quick recovery. Plasma skin tightening has a lasting effect on the youthfulness of the eyes and on the skin that frames them, without the hassle and anxiety that comes with surgery!

What is Plasma Skin Tightening?

Plasma is quite a recent innovation; it was only released as a mainstream method in 2014. This extremely accurate procedure ionises gas particles in the air between the instrument and the skin, this is plasma. Because of its precise nature, it is perfect for skin removal around small or intricate areas, such as the eye. The resulting electrical arc essentially removes the excess skin by turning the solid skin into a gas. No heat is transferred between instrument and patient, so lasting damage is minimal to non-existent; it is the only procedure out there that removes the skin without a single cut or stitch.

Not only does the Plasma eye lift treatment leave very little surface damage, it also has zero effect on the underlying tissue. On top of that, the procedure also protects the deeper layers of skin from any unwanted heat transmission.

The Plasma Eye Lift Procedure

The plasma eye lift procedure is fairly quick. You should expect to be in the clinic for about an hour, two hours maximum. The treatment does require a local anaesthetic, which is applied to the skin around the eyes; this anaesthetic comes in the form of a lotion. The numbness is essential to the success of the procedure, as it is important that you are comfortable. The eyes are very delicate and, being so small an area, require extreme accuracy. The effects will not be as good if you are uncomfortable, tense or flinching.

Once you are comfortable the procedure can begin. The session itself usually takes somewhere between 30 and 90 minutes depending on how many areas you are having treated. There may be a little discomfort throughout, but the experience is not particularly painful in any way.

When the treatment is finished, there will be small brown spots present on the skin around the eyes (known as carbon crusts). This is quite normal and soothing aftercare balms will be applied immediately after the procedure to aid the healing process. We will also advise you on the best products to use and will provide you with a thorough aftercare plan to follow.

Longevity and Aftercare

Plasma eye lifts have been proven to last just as long as their surgical alternatives. In more extreme cases, repeat treatments may be necessary, but multiple Plasma treatments are far less invasive and inconvenient than the surgical options.

Plasma eye treatment does come with a few side effects, most of which present within the week following the treatment. The carbon crusts mentioned above normally heal and disappear after around 5 – 10 days, if the aftercare plan is followed as directed. You may also suffer from sore eyes, redness or skin inflammation and dry or itchy eyelids. These are all perfectly normal symptoms which generally subside within 7 days. This recovery is still significantly quicker than the recovery period following surgery and is far less invasive.

Here are a few things you should do to care for the skin around your eyes after the treatment. Hopefully, these pointers will also reduce the chances of you suffering from any of the after-effects listed above.

  • However tempting it may be, do not touch, itch or rub your carbon crusts. They will take longer to heal, and this could lead to scarring.
  • Avoid direct heat sources for 4 weeks after treatment. No sunbeds, direct sun exposure, saunas, UV sources or hot kitchens!
  • Apply recommended moisturisers and medical concealers diligently until the crusts have fallen off naturally.

Please Note:

These are general guidelines only and results will vary from client to client. Although this is not a surgical procedure a certain amount of downtime is to be expected and care taken following the procedure. Medical history and a full consultation will be discussed prior to treatment.
